PIONEER MUSIC MINISTRY The congregation of Pioneer Church has been blessed in many ways. One of those is the music ministry that has been inspired by God to assist in providing a meaningful worship experience. Talents from God are shared in praising God.
The adult choir is open to anyone interested in praising God through song. We sing a broad repertoire of music ranging from classical to gospel and everywhere in between with special presentations such as Christmas and Easter cantatas.
Choir season falls between the second Sunday in September and the first Sunday in June. The choir takes a well-deserved rest during the summer when a smorgasbord of special music is provided each Sunday by guest musicians.
There are currently two adult handbell/chimes groups playing three octaves. The beginning group is open to anybody who would like to learn to ring. The more advanced group includes members who have been ringing for just a few years as well as those who have several years of experience. No matter what the ability levels, we ring an interesting variety of music with one purpose in mind - to glorify God.
The handbell season runs from September to June with, perhaps, a quartet of the ringers providing special music during the summer. Anyone interested in ringing should contact the church office for details.
The youth handbell choir currently has three groups starting as young as 4 years old up to 6th grade. The youngest group plays using bell plates with the director pointing to them or their notes on a chart. The next group uses choir chimes and plays as the director points to notes on a chart. The third group is starting to play from music with their notes marked on them. These groups practice on the second and fourth Sundays during Junior Church time (see the Sunday School section of our web site for more information about Junior Church). They have played several times throughout the year.
Several times each year, soloists or small groups will provide special music during worship. These may be members of our congregation or others from the community. Pioneer has been very blessed by these very talented singers and musicians that volunteer to share their talents in praising God through music.
